Steve Jobs, Apple’s visionary co-founder and chairman, has died. He was 56.
Jobs had stepped down as CEO in August due to health problems. He had been previously stricken with pancreatic cancer and had struggled with health issues since 2004.
“Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family,” his relatives said in a brief statement.
“In his public life, Steve was known as a visionary; in his private life, he cherished his family. We are grateful for the support and kindness of those who share our feelings for Steve.”

Orginal Article at Computer WorldIf you instead point your mouse — without clicking — to the leftmost bottom corner of the Desktop, a menu pops up with several options: one for search, one for changing settings, one named Share (whose only purpose appears to be to share a screenshot using a Windows 8 social networking app called Socialite), and a Devices button apparently designed for printing, playing games and sending content to others, but that doesn’t work in this version of Windows 8.

May 12th to answer that question
So really what does the Edmonton Oilers & Hockey Hall of Fame have to do with the Launch of the Office 2010 Business edition. Well Office 2010 is revolutionizing the scouting process for the Edmonton Oilers, providing a streamlined platform to help track and rank draft picks
and enabling scouts to collaborate from anywhere at any time. Antoine Leblond, Sr. Vice President, Office Productivity Applications Group, Microsoft Corp. will also be on hand to discuss the design and development of Office 2010 and what it means to Canadian businesses.

Intel Announces there 6-Core Gulftown – Gizmod
Six cores. That’s how many are in Intel’s ridiculous new Core i7-980x. MaximumPC takes us deep inside the world’s fastest CPU, with full, mind-searing benchmarks.
Meet the world’s fastest CPU. OK, so we just gave away the big reveal to our report before you even flipped one page, and without so much as the common courtesy of a spoiler alert. For that, we do not apologize, because it’s not like you couldn’t have guessed how this one would end up. After all, Intel’s new 3.33GHz Core i7-980X builds on all the goodness of the ass-kicking quad-core 3.33GHz Core i7-975 Extreme Edition, but is smaller, cooler, and has an additional two cores under its heat spreader. With Hyper-Threading enabled, that’s a cool 12 threads at the ready. How could anyone screw that one up?

iPhone 4.0 Firmware to Bring Multitasking This Summer?

iPhone 4.0 Firmware to Bring Multitasking This Summer?
via gizmodo.com
According to AppleInsider sources, iPhone firmware 4.0 will bring multitasking to the platform this summer. And it may look a lot like Exposé.
The “full-on solution” to multitasking will support “several” third party apps running at once in a “multi-tasking manager that leverages interface technology already bundled with its Mac OS X operating system.” To us, that sounds a lot like Exposé, a multi-window view that’s already found its way into phones like the HTC Legend, which would be quite different from the proof-of-concepts we’ve seen thus far (like our lead shot), or our own multitasking concepts.
